When the defense contractor that was tasked with returning 160 MaxxPro® MRAPs to combat readiness ran into trouble, the Navistar Defense Field Service Representatives who worked at the facility immediately took ownership of the problem.
The reps quickly discovered that the high vehicle failure rate was due to the installation of an incorrect part. The rear wheel seal needed to be replaced on every vehicle. But there weren’t enough of the correct part in stock, and the vehicles were urgently needed in various combat zones.
Our representative knew that Navistar, with a huge commercial support operation, would have the parts on hand. So instead of waiting to go through standard channels, he recommended that facility leaders order the parts directly from Navistar using a credit card. The parts shipped the next day and enabled the Navistar Defense maintenance team to complete repairs on all 160 vehicles in just 3 days.
